Media Excel is comprised of a world-class engineering team, with multiple Ph.D.s in compression technologies that develops some of the leading solutions for video compression, digital signal processing, and hardware/software design. The team, collectively, has more than 150 years of experience specifically focused on the development of digital media industry products, including several world-first deployments.
Jongil is the founder of Media Excel, and serves as CEO and president. He also serves as chief technology officer, and is responsible for envisioning Media Excel's corporate product strategy and evangelizing the company's technologies.
Jongil holds more than 100 international patents and has authored numerous articles and technical publications related to digital audio/video compression technologies. He was a key contributor to the International Standards Organization (ISO) Moving Pictures Experts Group (MPEG) digital audio/video committee for the development of audio and video compression standards.
Jongil has more than 20 years of technology and product development experience in the digital video industry. Previous to founding Media Excel, he architected MPEG acceleration of graphics and verification of Gigabit fabric chip design, at MOSAID Technologies. Prior to MOSAID, Jongil led MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 technology teams at Daewoo Electronics Video Research Center, where he received the Best Technology Inventor Award.
Jongil received M.S. and B.S. degrees from the Yonsei University in Korea, where he specialized in digital signal processing, and attended his Ph.D. studies in compression technologies at the University of Texas at Austin. He enjoys coaching Little League baseball in his free time.
John is the chief operating officer of Media Excel, where he guides the company's operations in human resources, finance, and corporate strategy.
Prior to joining Media Excel in 2002, John worked for EDS as a systems analyst, where he assisted in the management of various investments in technology, restaurant, and real estate companies.
John graduated from Baylor University, where he received a double degree in Management Information Systems and Performance Improvement Technologies, with a minor in Real Estate.
John is an avid tennis player and sailor, and enjoys seeking the best wineries in the world.
Nikos is the director of product management for Media Excel, which he joined in 2005. He formulates the company's product development and market-targeting strategies. Nikos also oversees Media Excel's product lines and coordinates relationships with key customers and partners.
Prior to Media Excel, Nikos was the co-founder of WaterOn, a start-up that introduced innovative geo-navigation (GIS) information retrieval and presentation technologies that were later officially adopted as EU-wide prototypes. Nikos has also worked as a software architect for a series of large-scale digital library products with Lambrakis Press, one of the largest media groups in southern Europe.
Nikos received a B.S./M.S. in electrical and computer engineering from National Technical University of Athens and an MBA, with focus in entrepreneurship, from McGill University in Montreal and University of Texas at Austin.
Nikos was a volunteer deputy technology manager at the Athens 2004 Summer Olympics Games.
